During the running process, the rolling cooling water encounters the red-burning steel billet and rapidly atomizes, and the iron oxide powder falling off the surface of the steel billet is sprayed to the periphery and rolls cause a large impact on the frame arches through the bearing housing. The large impact causes different degrees of corrosion and wears on the inner window surface of the rolling mill frame and the bottom of the frame of the arch, which makes it difficult to effectively control the gap between the steel rolling mill machinery frame and the roll chock. The gap between the rolling mill frame and the roll chock often occurs. The increase of the rolling mill arch gap deteriorates the working condition of the main drive system of the rolling mill, which makes the main drive vibration shock, and the steel ingot is prone to slip when biting, which affects the control of the shape of the plate and has a great impact on the product quality.
Most of the steel rolling mill machinery arches are made of ordinary steel castings. During long-term running, the surface of the window is susceptible to corrosion and wear, which causes the working conditions to deteriorate. The arch is usually repaired by on-line processing, that is, the material is removed by machining to remove the damaged layer on the surface of the arch, and the enlarged size is compensated by increasing the thickness of the liner. This repair method is simple and convenient to operate, but it does not change the nature of the face of the arch. After a period of use, the surface of the arch will be damaged by corrosion and wear, and the multiple machining will adversely affect the strength and rigidity of the arch.
Considering the sensitivity of the rolling mill machinery to the stiffness, there is not much margin available for processing. The repair method can only be a stopgap measure. The use of manual arc welding can restore the expanded size of the material after machining, but large-area arc surfacing on such a rigid structure may cause deformation of the arch structure. If the structure is distorted, the destabilizing deformation will be fatal and cannot be corrected. This is something that is not allowed in factory production. Therefore, the repair method will bring greater risks and will not be adopted.
